STUDENTS FROM THE DWIGHT FFA CHAPTER ATTEND 212° CONFERENCE
Dwight FFA chapter members attended the annual 212° conference in Schaumburg, IL on February 2-3, 2018. This conference is an activity of the National FFA Organization made possible by title sponsors as a special project of the National FFA Foundation. This two-day event is focused on student development and helps FFA members become aware of all aspects of personal growth. Students attended sessions on mental, emotional, physical, and social growth, and leave this experience with a personal plan for self-improvement. This event also includes a dance along with other, engaging group activities. The conference was generously sponsored by the Energy Transfer Partners.
212° - the temperature at which water boils – focuses on taking students to the boiling point of personal leadership. At 211°, water is extremely hot, but just one more degree gets us to the next level.
FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education.
2016 FFA Alumni Auction
We would like to give a BIG thank you to the Dwight FFA Alumni, businesses who made donations, parents, and to those who came to support the FFA the night of the auction. This would not be possible without all of you! The funds from the auction are used for FFA student development at career development events, conferences and conventions. The auction was a huge success and we appreciate everyone involved. A special thanks goes out to 1st Farm Credit Services for a $1,000 donation in celebration of their 100th year. Alicia Miller (1st Farm Credit Services in Pontiac, IL) presented the check to the Dwight FFA Officer Team the night of the auction. Thank you for supporting the next generation in agriculture!
2016 FFA Officer Retreat
|
The 2016-2017 Dwight FFA officer retreat was July 11-12 in Chandlerville, IL. Officer team members include: Justin Fox, president; Seth Perschnick and Logan Widman, vice presidents; Karah Colebank, secretary; Carter Wykes, treasurer; Kathryn Berta, reporter; Dayton Bunting, sentinel; Leah Flynn, Historian; and Rachel Dawson, student adviser.
FFA officers participated in team building and leadership activities while camping at the Ghost Hollow Lodge and hiking at the Jim Edgar Panther Creek State Fish and Wildlife Area. Officers benefited from this year’s officer retreat, as it allowed them the opportunity to discover each other’s strengths and weaknesses so that they can better plan how to achieve the chapter goals for the 2016-2017 year. The officer team plans to encourage new membership and participation in FFA events throughout the year. The chapter is constantly striving to reach goals and motivate members to explore their role in agriculture. FFA is an integral part of agricultural education completing a three-part model of classroom instruction and hands-on experience. Activities can range from community service to raising animals. |
